Neurodiversity & Psychoeducational Assessments
For children, teens & adults | Melbourne & Telehealth Australia-wide
Most assessment frameworks were designed with a very specific person in mind. If you've spent years being told you're 'just anxious', or if navigating a neurotypical world while quietly carrying a different kind of brain has left you exhausted — you deserve an assessment that actually sees you.
At Umeed, we provide comprehensive neurodiversity and psychoeducational assessments for ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties, and other areas of neurodivergence. Our approach goes far beyond ticking boxes.
We look at the whole person — your strengths, your history, your culture, and your lived experience. Because the questions you're bringing to us aren't just clinical questions. They're questions about identity, belonging, and finally being understood.
Our team uses evidence-based assessment tools alongside a culturally responsive lens — because standard tools were built in Western, monocultural contexts, and they can miss or misread the strengths and challenges of people from diverse communities. That matters to us.
What Makes Us Different
Assessment that sees the whole of you
If you've grown up between cultures, been late-diagnosed, spent years masking, or had previous assessments that didn't feel quite right — you're not alone, and you're in the right place.
Our assessments are:
Neuroaffirming — we recognise that neurodivergent brains are not broken brains
Culturally responsive — your background, language, family context, and values are part of the picture
Trauma-informed — we understand the emotional weight that often comes with seeking answers
LGBTQIA+ affirming — all identities are welcome and respected here
Strengths-based — we're not here to tell you what's wrong; we're here to help you understand how your brain works
We use validated, evidence-based tools including the DIVA-5, MIGDAS-2, BRIEF-2/2A, CEFI, SRS-2, ABAS-3, WAIS-V, WISC-V, and WIAT-III — selected based on your specific needs and background. Our reports are detailed, clear, and written in language that actually makes sense. They can be used for school adjustments, university accommodations, workplace support, and NDIS applications.
We have particular depth of experience working with CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) communities, women and girls with internalised presentations, adults seeking late diagnosis, and AuDHD (combined ADHD and Autism) presentations.
Our Assessment Services
ADHD Assessment — Children & Adults
1
ADHD doesn't always look like the hyperactive kid who can't sit still. It can look like the adult who's been described as 'spacey' or 'too emotional' their whole life. The teenager who tries so hard but still falls behind. The woman who's built an elaborate system just to get through the day.
Our ADHD assessments explore how your brain actually works — not just whether you meet a checklist. We use a comprehensive clinical interview, validated rating scales including the DIVA-5 for adults, and where relevant, cognitive testing. For children, we include parent and teacher input as part of a full developmental picture.
For ages 5 and up | Approx. 4–6 x 50-minute sessions

Autism Assessment — Children & Adults
2
Maybe you've always known you experience the world differently. Maybe this is a brand new question. Whatever brings you here, you deserve an assessment that's built around you — not a narrow clinical template.
Our autism assessments are neuroaffirming and draw on gold-standard tools including the MIGDAS-2 and SRS-2, alongside a thorough clinical interview and developmental history. We have particular experience with internalised presentations — including women, girls, and CALD individuals whose traits have often been masked or misread by other systems.
For ages 5 and up | Approx. 4–6 x 50-minute sessions
Combined ADHD & Autism Assessment
3
Many people experience both — often called AuDHD. A combined assessment explores how these neurotypes interact for you specifically, and helps avoid the common problem of one being diagnosed while the other is missed. Our team has deep experience with dual presentations and understands how they can look different across age, gender, and cultural context.
For ages 5 and up | Approx. 6–8 x 50-minute sessions
Specific Learning Disability Assessment
4
Learning differently doesn't mean learning less. If you or your child has been struggling with reading, writing, maths, or information processing — and you've never quite had an explanation that felt right — a psychoeducational assessment can provide real clarity.
We assess for dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and broader academic and processing difficulties using tools including the WIAT-III and WISC-V. Reports include practical, specific recommendations for school adjustments, tutoring approaches, and exam accommodations.
Includes: Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and other learning differences | Ages 5 and up | Approx. 4–6 sessions
Cognitive & Learning Profile
Sometimes the question isn't about a specific diagnosis — it's about understanding how your brain processes information. A cognitive assessment gives you (and any relevant educators or workplaces) a clear picture of memory, processing speed, reasoning, and learning strengths. Also used for giftedness identification.
For ages 5 and up | Approx. 4 sessions
FEES
Comprehensive assessment= with cognitive assessment, Brief assessment = without cognitive assessment.
What to Expect
We don't believe in arriving at an appointment with strangers and being handed a battery of tests. We take time to understand who you are first.
Step 1 — Free Consultation Call Before anything is booked, we have a brief call to understand your questions and make sure we're the right fit for you.
Step 2 — Intake Session (50 mins) Your assessing clinician takes time to understand your history, your concerns, and what matters most to you. For children, this session includes parents or guardians.
Step 3 — Assessment Sessions (usually 2–4 sessions) Standardised testing, structured interviews, and clinical observation. We explain everything as we go — nothing happens without your understanding and consent.
Step 4 — Feedback Session (50 mins) We sit down with you to walk through the results, answer every question, and make sure the findings actually make sense in the context of your life. You will never just be handed a report and sent on your way.
Step 5 — Comprehensive Written Report A detailed, professionally written report — signed by a fully registered psychologist — that you can use for school, university, work, NDIS applications, or simply for your own understanding. Written to reflect you, not just a diagnosis on paper.

A culturally responsive assessment goes beyond test scores and takes into account your cultural background, language, family context, and lived experiences. Standard tools are often created in Western contexts, which can miss or misinterpret the strengths and challenges of people from diverse communities. At Umeed, we make assessments culturally safe by asking about your identity and story, adapting how we communicate, and making recommendations that fit your real life and values. The reports we provide are still gold-standard and valid for schools, workplaces, and services like the NDIS—but they’re also written in a way that truly reflects you, not just a diagnosis on paper.
