You shouldn't have to
translate yourself
to feel understood

No referral needed. Medicare rebates available with a Mental Health Care Plan.

At Umeed, therapy is a space where your culture, your neurodivergence, your identity — all of it — is welcome. No explaining. No performing. Just honest, human support from a team that genuinely gets it.

Does this sound like you?

You've been holding it together for a really long time.

Maybe you've tried therapy before and spent half the session explaining your family, your culture, your background — before getting to the actual thing. Maybe you're navigating a late ADHD or autism diagnosis, or sitting with grief you can't quite name. Maybe the pressure of meeting everyone else's expectations has left very little space for your own.

Whatever it is — you don't have to arrive with it figured out. You just have to arrive.

HOW CAN WE HELP

Therapy for your whole life —
not just the parts that fit neatly in a box.

We offer evidence-based therapy adapted to the real, complex, sometimes-messy human beings who walk through our door (or log on). Here's what we work with.

  • A confidential, one-on-one space for anything you're carrying. Anxiety, trauma, burnout, identity, relationships, life transitions — we work with it all.

  • Relationships are hard. A culturally aware therapist can hold the full picture — communication, trust, family dynamics, cultural differences — without judgement.

  • Therapy that works with your neurology, not against it. We understand masking, late diagnosis grief, sensory overwhelm, and the particular exhaustion of a world not built for your brain.

  • For when your story can't be separated from your heritage. Intergenerational trauma, migration, code-switching, belonging — our team lives this too.

  • Can't make it in? Telehealth sessions are available to anyone in Australia. Same quality, same care — just from wherever you're most comfortable.

    Australia-wide | Flexible hours

  • A space that's genuinely inclusive — not performatively. Whether you're exploring your identity or processing family rejection, you belong here.

What we can help with

If it's weighing on you, it's worth talking about.

We work with a wide range of presenting concerns — but more importantly, we work with people. Here's some of what we help with:

  • Struggling with focus, memory, or organisation can feel frustrating and isolating. Maybe you’ve always felt “different” or like you’re working twice as hard just to keep up, and you’re wondering if ADHD or Autism could be part of your story. At Umeed Psychology, we offer ADHD assessments in Melbourne and autism assessments for children, teens, and adults. Our team uses gold-standard tools like MIGDAS-2 and psychoeducational testing, and we always take a culturally responsive approach that honours your background and lived experience. Beyond assessment, we provide ADHD coaching, practical strategies, and compassionate support to help you feel more in control of daily life. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

  • Anxiety can feel like a constant hum in the background — racing thoughts, tightness in your chest, difficulty sleeping, or never feeling truly at ease. For some, it shows up as panic attacks or feeling overwhelmed in social situations. At Umeed, our anxiety counselling in Melbourne offers a safe, understanding space to slow down and unpack what’s going on beneath the surface. We use trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy to calm your nervous system and give you practical tools to manage worry and stress. Our goal is to help you feel lighter, more present, and more able to engage with life on your terms.

  • Living with depression or low mood can make everyday life feel heavy. You might notice fatigue, a lack of motivation, or a sense of disconnection from things that once brought joy. Sometimes depression also comes with guilt, shame, or feeling like no one really understands. We provide depression counselling in Melbourne, Sydney and via Telehealth that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally aware. Our therapists walk alongside you to explore the roots of low mood, whether it’s stress, grief, trauma, or burnout, and support you to take small, meaningful steps toward feeling like yourself again. You don’t have to carry this weight on your own.

  • Trauma leaves imprints — in your body, in your emotions, and in your relationships. Whether it’s childhood trauma, racial trauma, school-based trauma, or sexual trauma, it can feel like you’re stuck in survival mode. At Umeed, we specialise in trauma therapy in Melbourne, Sydney & Telehealth, including support for PTSD, complex trauma, and intergenerational wounds. We focus on nervous system regulation, helping you rebuild a sense of safety, and restoring your agency and voice. Healing is possible, and it doesn’t have to mean re-living every detail — it’s about finding ways to feel grounded, empowered, and whole again.

  • Even the strongest relationships face challenges. Maybe communication feels tense, intimacy feels distant, or cultural and family pressures are getting in the way of connection. We offer couples counselling in Melbourne, Sydney & via Telehealth for partners navigating mismatched libido, trust issues, grief, or infidelity, as well as support for couples exploring non-monogamy or alternate relationship structures. We also provide queer couples therapy in an affirming, inclusive environment. Our approach is about helping both partners feel heard, rebuild trust, and move toward the kind of relationship you want to create together.

  • Sexual wellbeing is a vital part of mental health, yet it’s something many of us struggle to talk about. If you’re experiencing vaginismus, pain with sex, intimacy difficulties, or the impact of a past sexual trauma, you deserve a safe, shame-free space to seek support. At Umeed, we offer sex therapy in Melbourne for individuals and couples, with a focus on creating safety, reducing shame, and helping you reconnect with your body. Whether you’re navigating intimacy after trauma, exploring your sexual identity, or working through challenges as a couple, our therapists provide compassionate, sex-positive care to help you move forward with confidence.

  • For many people, identity isn’t simple. You might feel pulled between cultural expectations and your own values, or you may be questioning your sexuality, gender, or sense of belonging. These struggles can feel especially isolating in multicultural or diaspora communities. At Umeed, we provide culturally responsive therapy in Melbourne, Sydney & Telehealth that is affirming for CALD, South Asian, and queer communities. Together, we create a space where you can unpack identity safely, explore belonging, and learn to navigate family or community pressures without losing yourself. Therapy is a place where all parts of you are welcome.

  • Do you often feel like a fraud, waiting for someone to “find you out,” no matter how much you’ve achieved? Or maybe rejection hits harder than it should, leaving you questioning your worth. We support clients struggling with imposter syndrome, rejection sensitive dysphoria, low self-esteem, and confidence issues. Therapy helps you unlearn old patterns, develop self-compassion, and start showing up as your authentic self in work, study, and relationships. It’s not about “fixing” you — it’s about helping you see the strengths and value you already bring.

  • Life changes — whether exciting or unexpected — can stir up a mix of anxiety, grief, and uncertainty. From migration and moving cities to career changes, new relationships, or becoming a parent, transitions can feel overwhelming. We offer life transitions counselling in Melbourne, Sydney & Via Telehealth that helps you process these shifts, manage cultural or family expectations, and find your footing again. Therapy is a space to pause, make sense of change, and move into your next chapter with clarity and confidence.

Practical Stuff

 Questions we get a lot

Let's answer the things
you were too nervous to ask.

  • Nope. You can book directly — no GP referral needed. If you'd like to use Medicare rebates, you'll need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, but we can help guide you through that process.

  • Both in-person and online sessions offer the same level of professional support—it's all about what works best for you! In-person sessions provide a dedicated therapy space with face-to-face connection, making it easier to engage through body language and non-verbal cues. On the other hand, online sessions offer flexibility and convenience, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your home or anywhere with a stable internet connection. Whether you prefer the immersive feel of an in-person session or the ease of logging in from your safe space, both options are designed to provide effective, compassionate care tailored to your needs.

  • If you've ever thought "I wish I had someone to just talk this through with" — that's enough. You don't need a diagnosis, a crisis, or permission. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just wanting to better understand yourself are all completely valid reasons to start.

  • Think of it as a conversation in a safe space. Your therapist will listen, ask questions, and gently guide you towards understanding what’s going on beneath the surface. Sometimes you’ll get practical tools, other times it’s just about being heard.

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all. Some people come for a few sessions to work through a specific challenge, while others find ongoing therapy helps them maintain balance and growth. We’ll figure it out together.

  • We hear this a lot — and we take it seriously. Our practitioners are specifically trained in culturally responsive and neuroaffirming approaches. We won't ask you to explain your cultural background before getting to the point, and we won't apply a one-size-fits-all model that was never designed for you. We want to earn your trust — not assume it.

  • Our fees are already well below industry standard, and Medicare rebates bring costs down further. We also offer free and low-cost options through our community programs. Please don't let cost be the reason you don't reach out — email us and we'll see what we can do.

  • Our team is diverse, multicultural, and includes practitioners from South Asian, Asian-Australian, and other cultural backgrounds. When you enquire, you're welcome to let us know what's important to you and we'll do our best to find the right fit. We speak multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi and Urdu.

The first step is just
saying hi.

A free 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure way to ask questions, see if we're the right fit, and take a breath. You don't have to be ready. You just have to reach out.
