ABOUT SHIROMIE

Seeking assessment or starting therapy can feel like a big step, and finding someone you feel comfortable with matters. Layla aims to create a space where you can feel at ease—where you’re listened to without judgement and supported in a way that feels right for you.

Layla is a Provisional Psychologist, currently completing her Master of Psychology (Clinical), with a background in psychology through her undergraduate and postgraduate training. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of settings, including schools, community services, and private practice.

She has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism, and takes a neuroaffirming approach that respects each person’s differences rather than trying to “fix” them. Layla also works with people experiencing mood-related challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties.

Culture, family expectations, and identity can shape how we experience the world. Coming from a south Asian background-as an Urdu-speaking clinician, she is able to support clients who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in Urdu, and is mindful of the importance of culturally responsive care.

In sessions, Layla focuses on building a genuine connection with her clients. She works at your pace, checks in regularly, and adapts her approach to suit your needs—whether that means developing practical strategies, making sense of emotions, or simply having a space to talk things through.

Her goal is for you to leave sessions feeling heard, supported, and a little more confident in navigating whatever you’re facing.
