Psychologist | MAPS

Bhargavi is a trauma and neurodivergence-informed psychologist providing culturally sensitive therapy and assessments for adolescents and adults. She finds meaning in working with trauma, ADHD, anxiety, cultural identity, boundaries, relationships, career direction, and the broader questions of how to build a fulfilling life beyond achievement and survival. Since stepping into motherhood, Aavi has developed a particular interest in supporting new parents — especially those from multicultural backgrounds navigating parenthood, identity shifts, and family expectations.

She strongly believes that meaningful therapy comes from feeling genuinely seen, understood, and safe enough to show up as yourself. Her work integrates evidence-based approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT, and solution-focused therapy, with a touch of humour and hope.

Aavi identifies as a curious neurodivergent immigrant woman and with roots in India, and life chapters across Perth, Melbourne, and Hobart. Bhargavi Desai is a trauma and neurodivergence-informed psychologist offering therapy and assessments for adolescents and adults. With roots in India and life chapters across Perth, Melbourne, and Hobart, she brings both clinical training and rich lived experience to her work — as a curious neurodivergent woman, an immigrant, and a mother.

Bhargavi's clinical interests sit at the intersection of trauma, neurodivergence, and identity. She finds particular meaning in working with people navigating ADHD, anxiety, cultural identity, relationships, and the broader questions of how to build a fulfilling life beyond achievement and survival. Since stepping into motherhood, she has developed a growing commitment to supporting new parents — especially those from multicultural backgrounds facing the layered terrain of parenthood, shifting identity, and family expectations.

Her therapeutic approach draws on an integrative range of evidence-based frameworks including EMDR, CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, alongside mindfulness-based strategies and psychoeducation. She holds a particular belief that meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely seen, understood, and safe enough to show up as yourself — and brings both warmth and a touch of humour to that space.

Bhargavi is especially interested in the ways that culture, identity, and lived experience shape how distress is carried and expressed. Her work with clients navigating cultural expectations, boundary-setting, intergenerational patterns, and identity development reflects her commitment to therapy that is responsive to the whole person — not just the presenting concern.

She currently provides telehealth sessions from Perth and offers therapy in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Hinglish.
